Το BDS Greece, το ελληνικό τμήμα του διεθνούς κινήματος για το Μποϊκοτάζ, την Απόσυρση Επενδύσεων και τις Κυρώσεις εναντίον του κράτους του Ισραήλ, διοργανώνει ανοιχτή εκδήλωση-συζήτηση με τίτλο «Παρακολουθήσεις, Καταστολή και Συλλογική Τιμωρία», το Σάββατο, 11 Νοεμβρίου, στις 18.00 στο αμφιθέατρο Παπαρρηγοπούλου της Νομικής Σχολής Αθηνών (Σόλωνος 57)

Αυτές τις μέρες δεν εξελίσσονται απλώς τραγικά γεγονότα στη Γάζα. Ο μαζικός βομβαρδισμός του λαού και των υποδομών της πόλης, ο εκτοπισμός και ο βομβαρδισμός των εκτοπισμένων είναι πολιτική επιλογή εθνοκάθαρσης των Παλαιστινίων από το Ισραήλ, που γίνεται δυνατή λόγω των πολιτικών, οικονομικών και άλλων σχέσεων που απολαμβάνει με πολλές χώρες, συμπεριλαμβανομένης και της Ελλάδας. Η γεωπολιτική επιλογή στήριξης του Ισραήλ από τις ΗΠΑ και την ΕΕ, διαχέεται σε μια σειρά από οικονομικές σχέσεις, πολεμικούς εξοπλισμούς και προγράμματα παρακολούθησης και ελέγχου πληθυσμών, συμπεριλαμβανομένου του ισραηλινού κατασκοπευτικού λογισμικού Predator, θύματα του οποίου υπήρξαν στην χώρα μας πολιτικοί, δημοσιογράφοι, στρατιωτικοί, δικαστικοί και απλοί πολίτες.

Αυτές οι εξελίξεις είναι σε βάρος των συμφερόντων των λαών της περιοχής, ενώ τα αποτελέσματα τους στηρίζουν την κατοχή των παλαιστινιακών εδαφών, τον αποκλεισμό της Γάζας, τα εγκλήματα σε βάρος των Παλαιστινίων από το καθεστώς Απαρτχάιντ που έχει επιβάλει το Ισραήλ, το οποίο πλέον εξελίσσεται σε μια αναμφισβήτητη γενοκτονία.

Παράλληλα πολλές κυβερνήσεις προσπαθώντας να αποσιωπήσουν τα ισραηλινά εγκλήματα πολέμου λαμβάνουν μέτρα που παραβιάζουν θεμελιώδη ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα. Ποινικοποιούν κάθε εκδήλωση συμπαράστασης στον Παλαιστινιακό λαό, πανεπιστήμια εξαπολύουν κυνήγι μαγισσών εναντίον φοιτητών τους ενώ ιδιωτικές εταιρείες προχωρούν σε μηνύσεις ή ακόμη και απολύσεις εργαζομένων που τολμούν να καταδικάσουν τα εγκλήματα του Ισραήλ.

Η παρουσία σας είναι σημαντική για μας και έχει ιδιαίτερη πολιτική σημασία, γιατί τα ζητήματα που θίγει η εκδήλωση άπτονται και του περιεχομένου της δημοκρατίας και της ισονομίας στη χώρα μας, πέρα από τον τρομακτικό κίνδυνο για την εξάπλωση του πολέμου στην ευρύτερη περιοχή, που δημιουργούν τα τελευταία δραματικά γεγονότα στη Γάζα.

Invitation to an Event/Discussion

BDS Greece, the Greek section of the international movement for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against the state of Israel, is organising an open event-discussion entitled “Surveillance, Repression and Collective Punishment”, on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 18.00 at the Paparigopoulos auditorium of the Athens Law School (Solonos 57).

There are no words to describe the tragedy of the situation now prevailing in Gaza: mass bombardment of the people and the infrastructure in Gaza, displacement and bombing of the people trying to flee or find refuge are the concrete political choices of the state of Israel, with a view to wipe out the Palestinian people. Israel’s relentless crimes are backed by its economic and other relations with many countries, including Greece. The US and the EU’s geopolitical choice of supporting Israel comes hand in hand with a series of economic relations in terms of military procurements and population surveillance and control systems. Many people have been victims of unauthorised surveillance in Greece using the Israel-supplied Predator spy software, including politicians, journalists, military personnel, judges as well as ordinary citizens.

These developments are against the interests of the peoples of the region. They effectively support the occupation of the Palestinian territories, the siege of Gaza and the crimes against Palestinians committed by the apartheid system of Israel, which has now gone as far as engaging into an undisputed genocide. Meanwhile, in order to silence public opinion regarding Israel’s war crimes, several governments are now taking measures that infringe on fundamental human rights. We see several states that are now criminalising mere support of the Palestinian people, while universities are launching witch hunts against their students and private companies are suing employees or even firing those who dare to condemn Israel’s crimes.
